The Rotary Club of Klerksdorp was founded in November 1953. It forms part of RI District 9320, which is the central area of South Africa and Lesotho. The club in Klerksdorp currently has 30 members.

The members, known as Rotarians, meet every week at Rota Park Hall, du Toit Street, Freemanville on a Friday from 13h00 to 14h00.

Rotary International is an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and to advance goodwill and peace around the world.

The Rotary Club is a non-political and non-religious organization open to all people regardless of race, colour, creed, religion, gender, or political preference. There are about 35 000 member clubs worldwide and 1.2 million individuals, known as Rotarians, have joined.

On the 30th of May, three Rotarians received Vocational Awards from the Rotary Club. Riekie Krause, Anja Grassman and Wilma Cordier, work for the National Prosecuting Authority of South Africa and specializes in Sexual Offences. They received the award in recognition for their devoted and unselfish “Service Above Self”.
