In an endeavour to disarm suspects of explosives that are used to commit assortment of crimes, Provincial Organised Crime arrested a 49-year-old suspect for dealing in and possession of explosives on Sunday, 19 May 2019 in Jouberton Location, Klerksdorp.  

The suspect’s apprehension emanated from an investigation that began in September 2018. That was after information was received that the suspect was selling explosives. As part of the investigation, two transactions were made with the suspect in 2018. The long arm of the law caught up with the suspect during the third transaction with the police. In the course of the arrest, the police found explosives worth R129 000,00 inside the suspect’s bedroom. They include:

  • 25 x blasting cartridges
  • 40 x 3 shock tube assemblies
  • 50 x instantaneous electrical detonators

The suspect is expected to appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 21 May 2019 for dealing in and possession of explosives.
