NWSD has been following and watching the social media activeness and content of all students, in search of the FACE OF NWSD, and so we are proud to announce Milan Tanneth Jordan as the new Face of NWSD 2020.
The Face of NWSD will be promoting the “2021 Full-Time Courses”.
Milan Tanneth Jordan is 21 years old and matriculated in 2017 from Eunice Girls High School in Bloemfontein. After matric, she settled for a gap year in 2018 as she desperately wanted to study for a career in the fashion industry. “I couldn’t find a school that was in a suitable location for me and financially feasible”, she continues. Milan’s second plan was to study art at a college in Bloemfontein but didn’t see herself doing it for the rest of her life. Thus she spent 2018 shadowing an exceptional fashion designer, Sade Jansen in Bloemfontein.
Whilst shadowing at Sade, Milan came across the Gert-Johan Coetzee advertisement on her Instagram feed and decided to enter.
When Milan was asked why she wanted to study fashion she said: “Fashion is like a language that was instilled in me, by my parents, from the day I was born. You could refer to it as my third language. It’s one of my most loved ways of expressing myself, the clothing items, colours & fit, all make a statement on my mood that day. Therefore, I’ve always had a yearning to study something fashion related since forever.”
Milan is currently a second-year student studying Fashion Communications & Buying at the North West School of Design. Her goal after obtaining her diploma would be to operate as a freelance fashion buyer or stylist.
“In the future, I would like to have established my brand mainly as a Creative Director”, she added. But Milan’s main aim is to make a huge impact on the fashion industry on many levels.
Milan’s style can be described as edgy, eclectic, vibrant & versatile. “I don’t style myself according to trends. I style myself according to my vibe, at different stages in my fashion life” she continues. Her fashion icons currently are Iris Apfel, Yasmin Furmie, Yoon Ambush, Aleali May & Kai (Kim Jong-In).
