Eskom just released their first warning that load shedding might not be a thing of the past. For the first time in more than two weeks, South Africans might be in the dark again.

According to a statement is the system “under pressure” this week, because of the cold weather that is expected in certain parts of the country.

This comes hardly a week after Pravin Gordhan, Minister of Public Enterprises, promised South-Africans that there would be no more than Stage-1 load shedding from now until the end of August and also no more than 26 days altogether.

Eskom says their Winter plan, where minimal load shedding is provided, will require South-Africans to use power sparingly.

The cold weather expected in parts of the country could increase the demand for electricity, which could make the electricity supply “ extremely limited”.
