2020 Spring/Summer graduate collection by Lune Kruger

For those of you who don’t know me “yet”, I am Lune Kruger. I am currently a Fashion Communication and Buying graduate at the North West School of Design. Being a student at the North West School of Design you really get provided with so much knowledge and opportunities. Not only do I, as a Fashion Communication and Buying student get to plan the whole Fashion show with just a hand full of students, but I also get the optional privilege of making a collection that gets to be featured in the annual Platinum Fashion Festival.

I believe that the best part of the fashion show is when everything is done and you just sit back and really appreciate all the late nights and hard work that went into creating such a phenomenal show that people talk about for years and can’t wait to see again. When you just sit back and admire everything whilst thinking “wow, we really did this and I really made that.” It’s a feeling that is so hard to describe but brings so much joy and is really something to feel proud of.

Three years ago when I walked into the North West School of Design for the first time I didn’t even know how to thread a sewing machine and now I made an eight look ready to wear collection and I’m not even a design student.

This year has been a challenging one for all of us so I decided to make a collection that is less focused on the pandemic that we are currently facing and more about reminiscing the good all times. I chose to make my collection “Bermuda” for the young working girl who is ready to pack up and go on a much-needed vacation. My collection is very easy going and summer casual because we all could do with a breather sometimes.

I strongly believe that North West School of Design will always be a second home to all of us. We walked a journey with so many people and learned so many new things. It’s honestly one of the hardest things to let go of, but North West School of Design will always have a special place in our hearts and I am #NWSDProud.
