Kanana – A 34-year-old man was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment in connection with the murder of Thandeki Edwin Mbande (29), which occurred at Ext 4 Kanana in December 2017. He was also linked with a previous case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (gbh).
It is alleged the victim and the accused were at a tavern drinking when an argument ensued. The accused went home and later returned when he allegedly stabbed Mbande on the head, chest and wrist before fleeing on foot.
Linda Vincent Mmone was arrested 2 days later and denied bail owing to his previous case of assault gbh which he has been on the run for. He made his final appearance at Stilfontein magistrate court on the 4th March 2019 where he was sentenced to 15 years for murder and 3 years for assault gbh. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
