The Directorate of Priority Crimes Investigation (HAWKS) are investigating possible fraud at J B Marks municipality in the North West province, spokesperson Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso confirmed on Tuesday 10 July. Netwerk 24 reports that R 1,7 million was transferred from one of the municipal accounts into another account from a computer in the municipal offices in Potchefstroom. The possible theft was reported by one of the municipal officials. Captain Rikhotso told Klerksdorp News that they are investigating allegations of fraud and corruption within the J B Marks Municipality, but that they could not divulge any further information at this stage.
