Registered voters who can’t vote on the 8th of May 2019, can apply on Thursday, 4th of April, until Thursday,18th of April, to make a special vote on the 6th or 7th May 2019.

There are 2 categories for voters in South-Africa if they want to cast a special vote.

The first category is for those that can’t vote on the 8th of May because they are physically weakened, handicapped or pregnant. Officers of the Electoral Commission will come to the voter that qualifies house on the 6th of  May so that they can vote at home. If necessary, they will also come on the 7th of May.

Voters must go to the Electoral Commission of South Africa’s (IEC) website to fill in an application form. These forms can also be handed in at the nearest IEC office. Unfortunately, no faxed applications or emails will be accepted. These forms may be handed in at the office by someone else who is not the applicant.

The 2nd category is for someone who can’t vote on the election day (which is a public holiday) because they have to work.

Voters that qualify can go vote between 09:00 – 17:00 at their allocated voting station, on the 6th and 7th of May.
